Flexible Skills and Training Response Program

Access to low cost or free training for business owners or managers

Your business can access low-cost and free workshops under the Flexible Skills and Training Response Program.

Workshops are tailored to your business circumstances and aim to strengthen workforce capability and resilience, and support economic participation and business growth in the NT.

The workshops will be run in urban, regional and some remote areas between July 2025 and June 2026.

Who can attend

To attend you must be a small to medium Territory enterprise:

  • employing Territorians, or
  • a sole trader.

You must be the business owner or key management personnel to attend these workshops.

Places are limited.

Cost

Workshops are either free or will have a small registration fee.

You will be able to sign up to the workshops as the service providers advertise their programs.

Training and workshop topics

Each service provider will be organising and advertising the training and workshops with support from the Business and Regions team, Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations.

The training and workshop topics include:

Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation

Designed to equip businesses with the skills, confidence and tools to integrate artificial intelligence into their operations.

These workshops will offer 2 distinct modules:

  • AI Essentials – for those new to AI, focusing on building foundational understanding and digital confidence.
  • AI in Action – for participants with AI familiarity, seeking efficiency, deeper integration and better decision-making.

Financial literacy

Using interactive training methods participants will work through real-life practical case studies with the facilitator to understand the financial lifecycle and increase their knowledge in budgeting, pricing, debtor and cashflow management.

Business Enterprise Centre of the NT (BECNT) for remote settings

De-escalation training

Embedding Territory case studies, plain-language workplace health and safety obligations and culturally capable engagement methods, businesses will gain practical, immediately transferable skills that improve staff confidence, reduce incident rates and strengthen customer relationships without disrupting day-to-day operations.

Personal Protection Strategies

ICT systems training

Designed specifically for the needs of NT business owners, this workshop will provide hands-on guidance in using platforms like Microsoft 365, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, online collaboration tools, and accounting software like Xero and MYOB.

Tender writing and procurement skills

Key Concepts Consulting has developed a workshop, THE TENDER KEY, that is ideal for small to medium-sized enterprises new to tendering or existing tenderers looking to win more bids, sharpen their skills, and grow their expertise. It’s a practical, hands-on session designed to boost confidence and tendering success.
