Territory businesses can now apply for the new Safer Business Grant, helping them invest in practical security improvements to better protect staff, customers and facilities.
Expanding on the Biz Secure program, the Safer Business Grant offers broader support and a simpler application process. For the first time, both fixed commercial premises and eligible mobile businesses such as food vans, coffee carts and mobile service providers can apply for funding.
Eligible businesses can receive matched funding through a 50:50 co-contribution arrangement, with:
- Up to $10,000 available for fixed commercial premises.
- Up to $2,500 available for eligible mobile businesses.
To make the program more accessible, the mandatory safety audit has been removed and replaced with the free online Business safety and security checklist, which helps identify risks and guide improvements. Businesses can still choose to undertake a professional audit if they wish.
The Safer Business Grant forms part of the Northern Territory Government's $4.4 million Safer Business, Stronger Economy and Better Lifestyle Package, which also includes the Safer Precincts Grant, opening later this year.
Applications are now open.
