Supporting volunteers and good governance
Many associations are led by dedicated volunteers who generously give their time while balancing work, family and other commitments.
Becoming incorporated provides a recognised legal structure, but it also brings important governance and compliance responsibilities.
Meeting these obligations helps ensure associations are well managed, transparent and sustainable. However, navigating governance requirements can be challenging, particularly for volunteer-led organisations without formal training in administration or compliance.

Governance support
The Stronger Associations Program helps Northern Territory incorporated associations strengthen governance, improve sustainability and meet their obligations under the Associations Act 2003.
Through the program, eligible associations can access governance health checks and practical information sessions designed to build confidence and capability.
These services can help your association operate effectively, manage risk, meet legal responsibilities and establish strong governance practices that support long-term success.
