Northern Territory incorporated associations can now access free governance support through the Stronger Associations program.
The program helps associations strengthen governance, improve compliance with the Associations Act 2003 and build capability to support long-term sustainability. It is designed to help organisations remain resilient and continue delivering valuable services to Territory communities.
The program is available to all Northern Territory incorporated associations registered under the act and includes 2 streams of support:
Governance health checks
Governance health checks provide an independent review of an association’s governance, operations and sustainability.
The reviews help organisations:
- identify and manage risks
- strengthen decision-making processes
- improve organisational performance
- support long-term sustainability.
The health checks are delivered by Matrix on Board.
Governance information sessions
Governance information sessions provide practical guidance on:
- governance fundamentals
- financial management
- committee roles and responsibilities
- constitutions
- legislative requirements.
The sessions are delivered by Treeti Business Consulting.
Both streams are available online and in person, making it easier for associations in regional and remote areas to access support.
The program complements the Northern Territory Government’s broader review of the act.
The review aims to ensure the legislative framework remains contemporary, effective and responsive to the needs of incorporated associations across the Territory.
