Aboriginal Employment Program policy

The Northern Territory (NT) Government is committed to supporting the training and skilling of Aboriginal people for long-term participation in the NT workforce.

The Aboriginal Employment Program offers support to employers and industry, including not-for-profits, providing jobs and training opportunities for Aboriginal Territorians.

This policy applies to:

  • Aboriginal Workforce Grants - grants to support initiatives or projects that result in more Aboriginal Territorians entering employment and developing careers within the workplace. The grants help employers or businesses by providing funding for wrap-around or other support needed to maximise employment potential.
  • Aboriginal Responsive Skilling Grants - responsive to the immediate needs of Aboriginal Territorians living in urban, regional and remote communities, Aboriginal Responsive Skilling Grants provides access to training that leads to job outcomes or career advancement.
  • Regional Services - a team of dedicated workforce training coordinators available in each of the regions throughout the Northern Territory to facilitate or connect clients with services including other regional initiatives and government programs.
