Darwin Luxury Hotel approved by Development Consent Authority

The newly approved Luxury Hotel set to create up to 500 jobs for Territorians in construction and a further 150 jobs ongoing in operation.

The Development Consent Authority has announced its approval of the $200 million development, which will be operated by Westin Hotels and Resorts.

The Darwin Westin will be located at the Darwin Waterfront, overlooking the harbor and adjoining the CBD, bringing a new class of luxury to the Territory’s tourism market.

The hotel will be a drawcard for high-end business and leisure visitors and give Darwin a significant edge in the lucrative business conference market, growing our relationships with our international neighbours and potential private investors.

Mike Hughes, Vice President of Landbridge Infrastructure Group Australia said “We are very excited to be bringing a world-class, luxury hotel offering to Darwin.”

“The hotel is designed to attract the lucrative luxury market, including the high end business and corporate traveller.

Local businesses will have the opportunity to tender for contracts, with the developer undertaking procurement processes to identify local capacity, through the ICN gateway.

“We have been working with ICN gateway to assess local capability and this is a great opportunity for local businesses,” Mr Hughes said.

“Following the decision by the Development Consent Authority, we are on track for construction to commence this dry season.”
