Darwin luxury hotel development

On 3 August 2016 the Northern Territory (NT) Government and Landbridge Infrastructure Group Australia (LIGA) signed a binding heads of agreement on key commercial terms for the development of a luxury hotel in Darwin.

The hotel will be built at the Darwin Waterfront, on part of the land recently returned to the NT Government by Toga Group, and operated by Westin Hotels & Resorts.

Westin is the largest upscale hotel brand of the internationally recognised Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Construction is likely to commence in the second half of 2017, after usual development consent and approval processes have been obtained.

LIGA has consulted extensively with key stakeholders during the competitive process, including Deckchair Cinema. As part of the ongoing project development the public will have an opportunity to view and comment on the plans - this is a requirement of the development process.

LIGA is committed to engaging with local NT businesses to ensure that they are aware of, and can tender for, procurement opportunities during the construction and operational phases of the project.

LIGA will be running information sessions for local businesses in the coming months regarding the project.
