About us

The Department of Trade, Business and Innovation was established by the Northern Territory Government on 12 September, 2016.

The government created the department to bring together many of the key functions that drive a strong economy and development of the North.

The department is a key partner in stimulating and supporting the development of a competitive, responsible and productive business, industry and employment environment.

The agency includes the following divisions:

  • Business and Innovation NT
  • Employment and Skilling NT
  • Procurement NT
  • Northern Australia Development and Trade
    • Office of Asian Engagement, Trade and Investment
    • Northern Australia Development Office
    • Defence NT
  • Strategic Infrastructure and Projects
  • Strategic Services.

The department has one minister, one CEO and operates in more than six locations in the Northern Territory.
